Discovering Taiwanese Grandeur at The Regent Taipei

Discovering Taiwanese Grandeur at The Regent Taipei

Taipei, capital of Taiwan, is growing very quickly and that includes its luxury hospitality offer. High-end travelers can now find plenty of five-star hotels in the city, and I wanted to introduce one of the very best to you. Was I right to choose the Regent Taipei? YES.

Thanks to its central location in the vibrant Zhongshan area, near city’s cultural attractions and business district, Regent Taipei is perfect for both leisure and business stays. Featured in the movie “Lucy” by Luc Besson, it reserves plenty of – good – surprises to its guests which make the multiple awards received year after year very well deserved.

Design & Facilities

Regent Taipei is an institution in the country, building the foundation of luxury hospitality in Taiwan back in 90s. From the high-end luxury mall on basement – including an American Express Centurion Lounge – to the rooftop pool with 360° views over the city and mountains, this place is a temple of exclusiveness.

The interior design is pretty eclectic but mostly Asian-inspired with strong marble touches that give a hard luxury character to the atmosphere. It’s lovely, it’s modern, it’s chic and we like it!

The award-winning Wellness Spa is not to be missed with its stunning wooden design and treatment packages: all of them include steam shower and bath relaxation before/after massage for about a hour. I enjoyed a Traveler’s Perk Jetlag Recovering Massage and I confirm: it’s outstanding!

Accommodation

My Tai Pan Room was truly impressive: beautiful Asian-inspired interior design, luxury furnitures, floor-to-ceiling bay window not overlooked and huge marble bathroom with Wellness Spa bath amenities. Perfect!

The overall arrangement was luxurious and up to most upscale standards. It’s important to mention – because quite rare – that I never hear any indoor or outdoor noise, and it made my 2-night stay very relaxing!

Of course, the complimentary access to Tai Pan lounge on 19th floor is a big plus and might completely change a trip: inclusive of breakfast, all-day snacks and beverages as well as a great butler service.

Dining

There are no less than eight differents places for lunch or dinner at Regent Taipei. I had the chance to try out Azie restaurant and its Beef Noodles, the hotel’s signature delicacy awarded by CNN. It was not only tasty, but also a great surprise for the palate: the Australian beef is so tender!!

Regarding breakfast, of course you can take it at ground floor and enjoy a large selection of Asian and Western food but I would recommend to use 19th floor’s Tai Pan lounge facilities for a more cozy ambiance.

Level of exigency

As a Tai Pan’s guest, I have been invited to check-in directly in the lounge on top floor. There, I have found a very professional team of receptionists and attendants who were prompt to assist me with any of my needs. I have to thank them for the support provided during my issue with a local Uber driver. The same way, housekeeping was super efficient and even went beyond, by making my room at 8.30am upon request.

Such a reliable staff is very soothing and help to feel comfortable in a distant city where habits are far from Western codes. Thank you all!

Conclusion

Traveling to Taipei is not a regular activity for most of us… Staying at Regent Taipei, you are sure to find a luxury cocoon with all five-star standards insuring the best possible visit in that bustling city. A perfect service, a great lounge experience and immaculate common areas are the key points of that amazing residence.

Stayed from January 08th to 10th, 2019 – Sponsored media stay, but this article reflects 100% of my opinion and thoughts.

The Regent Taipei opened in 1990, has been renovated in 2013 and is now composed of 538 rooms and suites. I stayed in a Tai Pan Room – around 45sqm – which public rate starts at TWD 8,800/night.
