Finding some luxury lifestyle places in Taipei can be quite challenging for a westerner. This is why I carefully selected a great place for indulgence and relaxation, Espace Beauté EB Spa, inside the modern five-star hotel Humble House Taipei. Let’s have a look!
Settled on 7th floor of Humble House hotel, in Taipei’s Xinyi district near 101 Tower and Breeze luxury mall, Espace Beauté EB Spa offers a large selection of body and facial treatments made with Aromatherapy Associates natural skincare products.
Thanks to its premium location inside a luxury and modern five-star hotel, it’s easy to escape from the world and spend many hours there. And this is exactly what I did: a long & relaxing massage followed by a delightful dinner. Eventually, am sure a whole day spa would be a great experience too!
The place
EB Spa is composed of a tiny reception and its waiting area, a discreet place from the rest of the hotel, surrounding by Aromatherapy Associates products. The ambience is very zen, cozy and I love the Asian style decoration.
The clientele seems to be essentially made of locals, and a few tourists. For sure this location is not for opulent luxury lovers, but more for happy few and people looking for a low-profile cocoon.
Treatment room
The interior design of treatment rooms follows the rest of Espace Beauté EB Spa common spaces. Asian-inspired design, alternation of light and dark tones, cozy atmosphere. Very beautiful setup when arriving in the room, accompanied by the therapist.
Treatment room includes a shower, changing area and a locker. The table is one of the softest I ever experimented, I guess the “mattress” was partially made of latex ; very comfortable!
Therapist & massage
I enjoyed a 60-min body massage, the Ultimate Aromatherapy Experience, using Aromatherapy Associates products with the purpose to release stress and restore balance in body and mind. My therapist – English speaker, quite rare in Taiwan – started to introduce three different essential oil blends and asked my preference; I chose the “De-Stress Muscle” made of black pepper, ginger, rosemary and lavender.
Pressure recommended for this massage was medium to strong, and my therapist brilliantly understood how to alternate depending on my reactions. She applied a mix a Swedish and lymphatic drainage technics, relieving muscular tension and stimulating nervous system. Objective completed: at the end, I felt ready to face anything!
At the end, I have been accompanied to the relaxation lounge and served with a hot tea and almonds to snack. I was alone, it was perfect for achieving this massage in the most soothing way.
Light dinner at The Terrace
What’s the best after a good spa massage? A good light dinner! And for sure Humble House offers two nice restaurants, The Terrace and La Farfalla, that will help guests to achieve such a wonderful day of relaxation.
I chose the Club Sandwich at The Terrace that was served promptly and really, I mean really, delicious. Classical yes, but tasty and that’s all I needed. From what I have seen on other tables, it seems the beef burger and the fried rice with salmon would have been great candidates, too.
Conclusion
That combination of a modern luxury hotel, the Humble House Taipei, and Espace Beauté EB Spa is really efficient. It was very pleasant to spend an afternoon there and I definitely recommend this place for anyone seeking indulgence in Taipei. You might consider dinner at the Italian restaurant La Farfalla instead of The Terrace, for an enhanced culinary experience.
